- Appointed by one of the leading online car retailers, Cazoo, as Principal Contractor in 2021, working over several sites across the country. The project at Long Bennington, in particular, was the construction of the 2300 sq.m insulated Call Off Building including laying the new concrete slab, erecting the steel framework and cladding.
- Full fit out, internally, including car inspection pits, specialist car maintenance machinery including associated M&E works.
- EV Charging points were also installed at the Long Bennington site with excavations to install new cabling and services.

Project Description
- Appointed as construction managers to provide principal contractor services and site facilities, in a 60 week, two phase project that was carried out in an existing live distribution site
- Phase one involved the refurbishment of the existing ambient warehouse into a chilled cold store, including the removal of all high bay racking and services, floor repairs and the construction of large-scale cold stores with the associated replacement of the refrigeration plant.
- Phase two saw significant building and structural alterations to accommodate industrial scale cold and freezer store accommodation including new plant and plant rooms. Additionally, the strip out and refurbishment of all colleague toilets and rest areas.
- The requisite strict control on access and logistics, to a live distribution site, involved a high standard of communication and cooperation to facilitate the daily liaison required with the centre facilities management.

- A hugely challenging project , that required us to hit the ground running, after the previous main contractor had left the project with 5 weeks left to start on site.
- Full store and back of house refurbishment including new eComm storage and pick-ups.
- As Waitrose’s largest and most complicated project of the year, it had to be carried out over multiple days and nights within a 12-week period.
- The sheer size of the works that were undertaken ,in a live store, is testament to the great teamwork and a full commitment to delivering high standards.

- A complex refresh of the existing food halls, over 2 sites, to the new M&S framework.
- The project was completed over 16 weeks in a live trading environment.
- The M&S Meadowhall site was phased and programmed closely with the M&S team to facilitate and build a temporary food hall, set within the footprint of the existing store.
- The project involved a challenging phased handovers in two main areas whilst the removal of the temporary food hall was completed.
- This methodology resulted in a continuous trade for M&S with no loss of sales during the project duration.

- Acted as Principal Contractor under a construction management contract.
- Refurbishment of various home departments including modifications to the main store entrance area and the installation of a 5m x 5m LED TV.
- The project took place over both days and nights. Although heavily disrupted by the first national lockdown in April 2020, it managed to restart and complete by June 2020.
- Successful international management with contractors from the EU to create a suitable staging for the One Home, One Planet conference hosted by IKEA.

- Reconfiguration of UNIQLO’s store on Oxford Street, London.
- Refurbishment of the back of house offices, toilets and staff areas undertaken over a series of nights.
- Delivered in 2020 – during the first Corona Virus Lockdown – and implemented under strict health and safety procedures, utilising our Safe Operations Plan.
- With limited space for logistics and waste, this project was carried out in extremely tight working zones and is an exemplary model for projects of this size and complexity.

- A 25 week D&B refurbishment project undertaken with sectional completion dates to allow a staged occupation of the new Waitrose Customer Fulfilment Centre.
- Successfully appointed after a 2 stage tender process, UC Build worked closely with the design team to navigate design and cost challenges to achieve the completion of the new facility on time and within budget.
- The project encompassed extensive works including a new large 2MVA electrical substation with backup generator, construction of a new Vehicle Maintenance Unit building, refurbished and upgraded office and welfare areas, new chilled coldstore and refurbished chilled and frozen cold rooms, warehouse racking and significant external groundworks and new vehicle axle weigher.

- A 17 week full construction management project to convert an existing building, Meridian House, to a self-storage facility including the installation of a single-tier mezzanine and 12 external storage units.
- Structural demolitions and soft strip of the existing ground and first floor offices areas.
- Construction of new lift pits and general perimeter opening for new external new roller shutter doors and new fire exits.
- A full D&B mechanical and electrical installation and alterations were completed, ensuring the existing substation sited in the building footprint was maintained.
- Externally, the building fabric received new over cladding and decoration to the existing facades, complimented with a new building signage and reception over cladding.

- A 12 week D&B project that delivered the realisation of Waitrose’s long-awaited vision, to create a state-of-the-art development kitchen, within their Bracknell head office campus.
- The site included the fit out of a main development kitchen, an innovation kitchen to support product and proposition development, supplier demonstration kitchens, flexible presentation and broadcasting space, and an innovation space to hot desk, meet and create ideas.
- Detailed management of noise programming, as the site was an internal fit out across the ground floor of a Waitrose office building and was surrounded by live operational offices.
- The project successfully completed on time and on budget and was officially opened by HRH Prince Charles.

- A 48 week steel frame build, redesigned to meet the client’s budget and delivered within programme.
- Engaged as construction managers and all packages placed direct with our cost management service.
- Achieved £300k below the client’s target, delivering better than the market, and on time.
- Project built to the full extent of the site including the construction of a 7000m3 secant piled basement, located over one of the main water supplies into London, and with excavation taken off site via a shared access road.
- Incorporated various cladding materials including a living wall with internal 6 storey mezzanine.
